Total preparation time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup oil. (Preferably grape seed, sweet almond or any light massage oil)
  • 1 cup salt. (The texture and variety of salt is completely up to your preference. You can experiment with different kinds of salts, till you find out which suits your skin the best. There is no hardcore rule for this. It is a trial-and-error process. Don’t use harsh iodized table salts.)
  • Up to 5 to 15 drops of essential high-quality oils. (Again, this depends on your personal choice. If you want a relaxing effect, go for lavender. If you are looking for something refreshing and stimulating, then go for lemongrass or rosemary. You can also try a blended mixture of oils. Get creative and make your own blend.)
Method of preparation:
Step 1: Take a bowl and pour in the salt.
Step 2: To this, add the selected oil and mix well. (Use a spoon or a stick. Avoid using your hand). Mix till a runny consistency is obtained. If you are not very sure, add the oil little-by-little to ensure that the mixture does not become excessively oily.
Step 3: Now add the essential oil drops and give it another gentle mix to get a uniform blend. When you add these oil drops, you will immediately be able to smell the fragrance. You can also add other oils to vary or intensify the aroma.
Step 4: That is it! Your scrub is made. Now, apply it on your skin and slowly scrub using circular motions. Before applying, it is ideal to wash your face with warm water. After scrubbing, wash it off and dry your face with a clean cloth.
