If you have ever wanted to spend Christmas in the most festive a fashion possible, you will want to take a trip to the north of Europe. Countries like Sweden, Finland and Norway are the kings of Christmas spirit and you’ll be able to enjoy a snowy atmosphere as you walk through and join in on the fun. Today we are going to have a chat about the capital of Norway, Oslo. And here are some of the festive activities you can enjoy here.
The Christmas markets
One of the things which many people love to do during the festive season is visit their local Christmas markets. If you have never been to a Christmas market you are missing out and out of the many things to do and see in Oslo this Christmas it would be a crime if you didn’t check theirs out. This festive market is expansive and goes through the whole city. You’ll be able to take a walk and see the sites as you get to smell festive meats and cheeses, drink mulled wine and enjoy the music. Everywhere you look will be hand crafted items for sale and it really captures the very essence of the festive spirit for you to enjoy.
Christmas market at Spikersuppa
If you want to be able to see another festive market just outside of Oslo then you can venture here and see some of the stunning glass buildings in the city as well as lots of festive activities for the kids to enjoy. There will even be a concert or two for you to go and see if you fancy something a little bit different!
Winter wonderland
Also set in Spikersuppa, every year a Christmas fair is held in the city which is ideal for all ages and it offers a massive range of fun activities to enjoy. You’ll be able to meet Santa in his grotto, enjoy local delicacies and even ride a huge Ferris wheel in the centre of the fair. It is a great winter activity for the kids and for you and it will mark the start of your festivities.
The nutcracker
If you fancy something a little bit more cultured during your stay in Oslo this Christmas there is nothing better than taking a trip to see the nutcracker with the Norwegian ballet. As far as festive shows go, this one has all of the magic and wonder of Christmas and it is the ideal place for you to come if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some amazing music and dancing for a while.
Puppet theatre
If you want to try something a little bit different this year you can come and enjoy this fun and festive performance and see a different side of the classic Christmas tale. In this story a carpenter running a simple shop meets Santa himself and they have a fun adventure together. It’s unique and it can be super fun for the whole family.
